Temp Mail

Private temp mail

Create temporary mail addresses, receive and answer messages anonymously.
When the time is up, the mailbox self-destructs for good.

A temporary mail address is the practical answer to sites that demand an email before they show anything: software downloads, one-time registrations, trial accounts, newsletters you want to read once. The address is created in a click, receives mail within seconds and is deleted together with its contents when its lifetime ends. Your real mailbox stays out of the exchange.

The service is built around two principles. The address is genuinely temporary: nothing about it is kept once it expires. And the mail it receives is stored in encrypted form only, with a key that exists in your browser and nowhere else.

    How a temporary address works

An address consists of a name and one of the service domains. You can choose the name yourself or let the service generate one. Without a paid plan you have one address at a time with a lifetime of two hours. Paid plans add longer lifetimes, several addresses in parallel and a larger mailbox.

The remaining time is shown next to the address. The Extend button restarts the clock a limited number of times, so an address that is still needed does not disappear mid-task. When the time runs out, the address, its messages and its attachments are removed. Nothing is archived and nothing can be restored afterwards.

Incoming messages appear in the list without a page refresh. Attachments are delivered up to the size limit of the mailbox, which depends on the plan.

    Storage and encryption

When you create an address, your browser generates a key for it. Mail that arrives at the server is encrypted with this key before it is written to storage, so the stored copy is unreadable without it. Decryption happens on your device when you open a message.

The key is kept in the browser that created the address. To read the same mailbox elsewhere, paste the key into the other browser. If the key is lost, the messages cannot be recovered by anyone, including the service itself. This is a deliberate trade-off: no one can read your mail, and that includes us.

Push notifications follow the same rule. A notification reports that mail has arrived and, if you allow it, the sender. The subject line is decrypted on your device before it is displayed.

    Replies and sending

A reply is sent from the temporary address itself, which makes confirmation codes and verification links usable without revealing your real address. Each address has a daily allowance of replies and outgoing messages that depends on the plan. The current balance is shown in the compose form.

    Pinned addresses and the reserve

On paid plans an address can be pinned. A pinned address has no expiry: it keeps its name and its mail for as long as the plan is active, which makes it suitable for accounts you return to regularly. The number of pinned addresses depends on the plan.

When a plan ends, pinned addresses are moved to a reserve for 30 days. During that period they continue to accept mail but do not give it out. Renewing the plan restores full access, and turning the address into a temporary one starts the usual clock. After 30 days a reserved address is deleted with its mail.
